IS THERE NO BALM IN GILEAD? PART 2

ENGAGING VITAL COVENANT KEYS TO HEALTHY LIVING

The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt; I am black; astonishment hath taken hold on me. Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered? Jer. 8 20-22

God is a God of healing, in Jeremiah 8:20-22; Jeremiah 46: 8-11; Jeremiah 33:6-8. There are some medicines that has no curative power in it, but you can’t go to Gilead and not receive the balm that brings healing. It is said that health is wealth; if you ignore your health you may end up spending all your wealth to regain your health. It is easier to maintain good health than to regain it. God desire and wishes that we have healthy living (3 Jhn. 1:2). However, there are things to do to convert His wish to His will. We are going to look at them extensively today.

WHAT IS THE BALM IN GILEAD?

  1. THE WORD OF GOD IS THE BALM IN GILEAD ( 8:22: / Psa. 107:20). The word of God is the balm and Jesus is the physician there (Matt. 9:12-13 / Lk. 5:17). There are specialists in the field of medicine and in the general field but in the house of God He is the generalist. He does not refer cases. He is specialist for the blind, the dump, and the lame, sick diseases. The generalist is Jesus and He will certify you whole today in the name of Jesus. As His word goes forth healing is continuously released.
  2. WHEN THE LIGHT OF THE WORD BREAKS FORTH, ONE’S HEALTH SPRINGS UP SPEEDILY ( 58:8). When you carry light, you’ve dominion over darkness (Jhn. 1:1-5). Longevity of life is in the word. If you lack the word, there is shortage of life. Inside the word there is life and inside the word is light. When you carry the word, you carry light. Every striking revelation dispels the powers of darkness and makes us whole (Job 33:21-25).

 UNDERSTANDING THE MYSTERY OF LONGEVITY

You need to understand your right to longevity (Exod. 23:25-26, Prov. 13:17). You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free; you are not permitted to die young (Isa. 5:30: / Jhn. 8:32: / Rev. 1:18/ Isa. 65:20-24). Man is a triune entity, essentially man is a spirit, with a soul and is contained in a body (1 Thess. 5:23). Your spiritual health primarily will inform your physical and mental health. There are many mental, physical and mental health issues in this country. But recognize that Christ has paid the price for our longevity (1Cor. 6:20, Matt. 8:17).

 HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE THAT

We have a covenant of longevity in redemption (Gen. 25:8: / Gal. 3:13-14). Abraham lived long and as a child of Abraham, you are rooted as a child to enjoy longevity. We have a root of longevity in our covenant fathers. Three covenant fathers that had longevity:

  • Abraham: He died at 175 ( 25:8 / Gal. 3:13-14).
  • Isaac: Isaac died at 180 ( 35:28-29: / Gal. 4:28). Isaac enjoyed that heritage of longevity and we also as Isaac are qualified to enjoy the longevity covenant.
  • Jacob also died at 147 ( 47:28).

Moses who received the validity of man’s life span to be 120 experienced same and died at 120 (Gen. 6:3/ Deut. 34:7). Paul departed as an aged man (Phil. 1:22-25: / Philemon. 1:9). You will not die long! Amen.

But the covenant of long life delivers as far as our eyes can see (Gen. 13:14-15). King David as powerful as he was, never lost any battle, but he saw 70 and he departed earlier than 120 as prescribe by God for us all (Psa. 90:10/ 1 Chr. 29:28/ Gen. 6;3). What you see is what you take. What are you seeing, what figure do you’ve in mind?

HOW DO YOU SECURE LONG LIFE AND LIVE STRONG?

To secure long life and live strong and not feeble, you must engage three levels of responsibilities. The first level is spiritual responsibilities; the second is physical responsibilities and the third level mental responsibilities.

 SPIRITUAL RESPONSIBILITIES TO ENGAGE:

To secure long life and live strong and not feeble, one must:

  1. Believe in the validity of the covenant of longevity ( 65:20-24 / Jn. 1:12: / Luk. 1:45)

  3. Be Committed to Living by the Word ( 4:20-22: / Mat. 4:4: / 2 Pet. 1:4)
  4. Be Committed to Living by Faith ( 6:16/ Matt. 9:27-29 / Heb. 10:38): confidence living. There are things you need audacity to confront.

  2. ENGAGE IN BODY EXERCISE (I Tim. 4:18): Start exercise with minimum effort, progress gradually, it is essential you joy your exercise, if you notice any negative thing, consult your doctor immediately for facts. You can also tackle facts with the truth in faith. The word didn’t profit them not mixed with faith that heard them ( 4:1-4, 12-16).

MENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES

HOW DO YOU EXERCISE THE MIND? (Hebr. 4:14).

  1. You exercise the mind by Reasoning ( 1:19/ Isa. 4:21).
  2. By Researching ( 9:2).
  3. By Meditating ( 1:13, 16-17/ Hosea 4:6).
  4. Engage the Service of Consultants ( 15:2/ Prov. 12:15). In the multitude of counsel there is safety.
